After beating the Elite Four, you’ll take on the champion, which is eventually revealed to be your rival. Pidgeot will use Featherdance to make opponents less powerful and Aerial Ace for never-miss strikes. Alakazam will use Reflect to weaken physical attack damage for 5 turns and use Recover when suffering. Rhydon will use Rock Tomb to slow opponents down and Earthquake for a big attack. Arcanine can sometimes strike first using Extremespeed. Exeggutor will use Light Screen to weaken special attack damage for 5 turns then a combo of Sleep Power and Giga Drain. Gyarados will Thrash about for 2-3 turns then become confused. Venusaur will use Sunny Day to make Synthesis recover more and SolarBeam to nullify first-turn charging. Charizard will prevent targets from escaping with Fire Spin then Slash for more critical hits. Blastoise will use Rain Dance and make Hydro Pump even more powerful. Make sure you have a whole variety of moves for this battle.
