I’m a 3–decade climate activist who’s done time in jail for his teen climate activism (jailtime in my twenties, as I dodged the bailiffs for as long as possible). I absolutely support XR actions thus far and further escalation in order to stop aviation and other major sources of carbon/climate destruction. Here we’re on the same page! 100%.<br /><br />My problem with you lot in the #HeathrowPause drone attack lot, is that you wilfully ignore a 4-month internal process in XR, the longest internal debate in Extinction Rebellion history, ending with a crystal clear NO to the use of drones, and you just press ahead, using XR symbols, XR founders, and all kinds of XR websites & platforms (including public speaking tours) in your defiant, anti–democratic campaign to use drones anyway.<br /><br />So there’s that: You want to piss on democracy and the common will of fellow rebels. But that’s hardly the most important reason I oppose what you’re about to do. Military Intelligence, be it MI5, MI6 or ‘friendly’ foreign services, can easily fly a drone at any time after you lot fly dozens of drones, in a False Flag manner, where people may actually die because that’s how their narrative serving THEIR purposes has it. XR will be given the blame, Military Intelligence personnel will get their pay checks, everyone happy. XR volunteers will be rounded up as the terrorists Mainstream Media has painted them to be: Grannies, kids, teenagers, grown–up activists who never flew drones, will all go to jail for a very long time, following the fatal Military Intelligence False Flag drone attacks that you never thought of, but they did.<br /><br />So if you don’t want your own movement to crumble & collapse, don’t fly the drones at Heathrow.
