An old tamarind tree at the corner of our land had to come down. It interfered with the fence and there was no way to get around it. The roots would have eventually caused damage to the fence even if we built it away from the tree. The tree was not wasted since tamarind wood makes excellent chopping blocks. The man with the chain saw sliced off chopping block sized pieces of wood to give away to the neighbors.
