Jay_debating_Jew
At the end of a multi hour live debate stream a jew calls in. I finally get to hear some arguments I was looking for:
- Isiah 49-50: predicts the convertion of the gentiles -> early church fathers of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd century write about/are the kings who convert and worship the jewish messiaha, which fulfills the prediction in Isiah after destruction of the Temple in 70AD -> the new Covenant
- Constantine did not (re)invent Christianity, there is no new Christianity after Constatine -> Since the early church fathers are consistent with those (teachings/writings) with the Churchfathers after Constantine
- The post-apostolic church fathers already had the doctrine on the trinity, but were still debating over it
-Many jewish scholars/rabbis, not all of them reformist and reconstructionalists (f.e. Siegel, Sommer etc), confirm more and more that the scriptures describe a triad, it is not unitarian.
- Jesus is the eternal son, uncreated. He is the one who created the world "through and for him", Jesus is the one walking in the garden of eden. He turns to look at Giddeon. He is the Logos, the spoken word. He is the one dining with Moses. He is the one who created the angles and thus is superior to them and not one of them "let the angles worship him". Creatures cannot be worshiped.
-The word "God" (or Yahweh) can point out many things, not only the eternal Father, God.
- If there is an eternal Father, there must be an eternal Son
- No one ever gets to see the Godhead, the eternal Father. Only through the Son, Christ, this the 2nd Person of the Godhead, God can be experienced.
