Another bicycle touring story from Panama. After recovering from a sickness in Bocas del Toro, I had made it to the port town of Almirante. The next town was Chiriqui Grande, about 75 km away. The bicycle ride was challenging with lots of hills, but it was easy compared to the following day's ride to David, on the Pacific side of Panama, fighting lots of steep hills in unforgiving rain and fog up to the Fortuna forest reserve and hydroelectric dam. I took a rest day that turned out busier than planned. On the way to Playa Las Lajas I met a hitchhiker who turned out to be someone I had met before. Las Lajas was a very quiet beach. Here too I bumped into some familiar people besides chickens and geese.
