The German police have continued their ruthless crackdown on Palestine solidarity protests across the country , arresting and assaulting protesters. The crackdown includes repression of people who have chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and worn Palestinian symbols like the keffiyeh scarf. Despite the government's ban on demonstrations against Israel's brutal attacks on Gaza and across occupied Palestine, hundreds of people have taken to the streets including in the capital Berlin where the police response was particularly aggressive. <br /><br />With the total weight of its machinery of state repression, the German state has increased the police presence, especially in areas with large Arab and Muslim communities, deliberately targeting youth with a migrant background and anyone expressing support for the Palestinian people, including children. This pattern of repression is not new, for years protests in support of Palestine have been routinely banned.<br /><br />Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced his intention to ban the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network "Samidoun." <br /><br />Germany is Israel's leading trading partner in the EU and is the most active European country in the dehumanization of the Palestinian people and the criminalization of their struggle against Israeli apartheid, occupation and ethnic cleansing.
