CINEMA: ART OR INDUSTRY?<br />If we talk about cinema as an industry, we cannot fail to mention Hollywood: the mecca of cinema, where cinema emerges as an industry. And there is no detracting from it: in most countries the proportion of films from this industry always far exceeds the national one ... if it ever exists. In this way, Hollywood has emerged as the owner of the formula for success. They understood the cinema as a means of entertainment and socialization, they created formulas that “hooked” the public to their productions. They were the creators of the “star system”, of the cinematographic idols, the first heirs of Griffith and the birth of the cinematographic language that they came to sublimate. Simple formulas, established scripts, themes typical of this industry, duration of approximately ninety minutes. Wide connoisseurs of comedy and drama and, above all, masters of action and narrative rhythm: his films, often simple and without any deep interest, entertain. However, as a rule they have not been great innovators. They have generally expected that others, almost always independent film and new schools, would speculate with different formulas.
