The Star Model A and B pistol series was heavily influenced by the Colt 1911, utilizing the same pivoting link lockup design for the barrel. <br /><br />In 1946 the design was updated to a more modern link-less system which also featured a quick take-down lever becoming the Super A and B series. <br /><br />In 1956 the original pivoting link design was re-introduced as the Models AS and BS, based on whether they were chambered for 9mm Largo or 9mm Luger. As it is possible that barrels or other parts have been swapped, it is important to make sure you use the correct ammunition for your particular pistol and not rely solely on the Model designation. Also, if you have a Largo chambered pistol, it is unsafe to fire 9mm Luger, 38 Super or Winchester 9x23 ammunition in it.
