"The Docks"-Artistic Hip Hop-True School Rap-90s Style Rapper-Lyrical Rappers 2012-Don VerbxC-Skillz
#artistichiphop #trueschoolrap #lyricalrappers2021 #90sstylerappers #lowbudgetrapvideo #whitehiphopartist #diyvideoexample #donverb #cskillz

In what the artist calls the "chop style" of editing, Don Verb presents a video created with a similar aesthetic to his recent release, "Weed Warz". Like "Weed Warz", "The Docks" is an advance release off of his upcoming (2021) release, "1996". Its melody is one that remains in any listener's mind and the subdued-though-constant flows that are interlaced with it take many listeners to a very specific place; the dismal streets of 2020.

While "The Docks" could accurately be described as a representative example of artistic hip hop, there's a certain grittiness presented here that probably isn't present in more perceivably high brow offerings. These two 90s style rappers refer to what they do as street hop, or true school rap; it's not something for the fanbases of the current pop-rap landscape.

Don Verb provides the story of a reluctant hustler; a drug trafficker from clearly what was a different era - forced to reenter the game due to the financial circumstances created by the destructive financial storm that has been 2020. By the end of his story he's retired to embracing his semi-forced role in life and finds himself living as the boisterous recipient of ill-gotten rewards for his immoral actions.

C-Skillz immediately expresses - in somewhat abstract fashion - the feelings, worldview and mindset of an urban male coming of age during a period of time that is without much hope. Inspired by many elite battle rappers (and hoping to sooner-than-later enter their arena and perhaps make it his own) the majority of his punchlines carry multiple meanings, culminating toward a threatening - though relatable - crescendo in his final bars. His debut as a feature to an established and prolific lyricist is more than satisfactory.

"The Docks" (as its purposely off-time and direct chorus illustrates) could serve as the memoir of many; it's reflective of being confined to an empty and purely survivalist existence while dreaming and writing the barely unreachable,- though societally impressive - aspirations that we all once possessed.

Haunting in every way audible, "The Docks" subtly intends on influencing its listeners to seek more works of its artists. As a sort-of street single, it's nourishing to the hip hop hunger pangs that many of us have but it serves as an appetizer; something to engage the pallet and increase the appetite.

Don Verb's Works & Merchandise (some free) - http://www.donverb.com
Don Verb Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/donverbredteam
Don Verb Instagram: Instagram.com/Don_Verb
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWQGdSTxXL0
