Following on from previous 'Chuggfest' videos, I decided to make some themed tracks. This one features the first single-note riff pattern from 0:45 of Decapitated's 'Three Dimensional Defect' (The Negation):<br /><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw5q2vykjpc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw5q2vykjpc</a><br /><br />The backing track is designed to improve stamina, endurance and accuracy in the picking hand. Just play the following pattern of Downstrokes and Upstrokes on the 6th string whenever there is a bass drum and soon you will have Vogg's chugging riffery at your fingertips:<br /><br />||: DUDUDUD - - DUDUDUD - - - - - DUDUDUD - - DUDUDUD - - DUDUDUD :|| <br /><br />The guitars on the original are tuned to standard tuning down three semitones (C#F#BEG#C#) and this riff is played on the 1st fret of the 6th string, but feel free to play it on whatever fret you like in whatever tuning you like!<br /><br />The main idea to this is similar to that of the Bleep Test in P.E. at school, start off slow and raise the bar incrementally as you get more tired...<br /><br />Play continuously along as long as you can BUT BUT BUT,<br /><br />SAFETY FIRST!<br /><br />if you start to get tired and feel an aching sensation in your hand, start to put gaps/rests/breaks into the pattern.<br /><br />THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO NOT PRACTISE THROUGH PAIN!!!<br /><br />I REPEAT,<br /><br />DO NOT PRACTISE THROUGH PAIN!!!<br /><br />I accept no responsibility for anyone doing their arm in or getting RSI because I WARNED YOU.<br /><br />Anyway, disclaimers out of the way...have fun with it and any suggestions for future exercises are always welcomed.<br />...<br /><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJuO1cqnEtI" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJuO1cqnEtI</a>
