House Republicans Propose Committee To Protect Trump
Republicans in the House of Representatives will likely be forming a Committee that is, allegedly, designed to conduct reviews of ongoing investigations at the FBI and other federal agencies. But the REAL goal is to protect Donald Trump from prosecutors, and possibly even provide protection for some of the Capitol Rioters. This is a gross abuse of power to protect a wholly corrupt individual, but it isn't surprising given today's GOP. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Link - https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/07/gop-panel-criminal-investigations-00076890

Check out our merch by visiting our store: https://www.buyrof.com/

Subscribe to our podcast: http://www.ROFPodcast.com

Become a member today!: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYWIEbibRcZav6xMLo9qWWw/join

Support us by becoming a monthly patron on Patreon, and help keep progressive media alive!: https://www.patreon.com/TheRingofFire

Spread the word! They're setting up their committees and there's one proposed rule slash committee, I guess you would call it that should terrify everybody except of course for members of the Trump family and anyone being investigated for their ties to Donald Trump. Because one of the proposals would establish, I guess you would call it a select committee overseen by the Judiciary Committee, which is going to be chaired by Jim Jordan and this special committee overseen by Jim Jordan, which is gonna consist of 11 members, five of those. However, uh, McCarthy's gonna consult with Hakeem Jeffries about before putting them on that committee. So I guess Democrats may have five people on the committee maybe. But this committee is going to specifically oversee ongoing investigations from the federal government into all sorts of things.

So to put it another way, it's not just a select committee being overseen by Jim Jordan. It is a protect Donald Trump's committee is the best way we should look at this. Oh, and by the way, for some reason, this committee is also going to get access to items obtained by the House Intelligence Committee, which that's the committee that does oversee a lot of classified information. They get info that is not shared with other committees, but as part of McCarthy's concessions, he said, okay, Jim Jordan, you and your weird little committee, y'all can have access to the House Intelligence Committee materials. That that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. So here is what this committee of course would do if there is an ongoing investigation within the federal government. This committee would be able to issue subpoenas. They would be able to call the investigators into the house and give testimony.

They would basically act as an unofficial person looking over their shoulder. They wouldn't really have any power to stop the investigations. That would come later through a rule that republicans also are putting in place as part of McCarthy's concessions. So they will be able to defund investigations, but not until, but not through that committee, if that makes any sense. So this committee is gonna go and they're gonna make it seem like all of these investigations are frivolous and they're all witch hunts. Then they're gonna take it to the full house and say, Hey listen, we think this is stupid. They're going after Trump and we've gotta protect him. Let's vote to defund this office. That is how this is gonna go. It could also apply, by the way, to Capitol Rioters still awaiting trial. They could kill those investigations.

They could also, through their connection with the House Intelligence Committee that I mentioned, get their hands on documents about social media's involvement with the F B I and the cia. Which to be honest on that one, I'm actually okay with I, I, I do think we need to know how our federal agencies are using social media as a propaganda tool, and we do know that's happening. Lee Lee Fong recently uncovered that. So that is a thing, and I'm okay with that one. I'm not okay. However, with Jim Jordan and these other Republicans getting their hands on classified documents about ongoing investigations that they shouldn't be sticking their nose into, that is only gonna lead to trouble.
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdmHstMFxSs
