Here we have an iPhone 6S that is not charging. It is showing 0.004A on the USB Meter (Blue USB Meter w/ 3 decimals: <a href="https://amzn.to/2CrZbtl" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://amzn.to/2CrZbtl</a>). If we plug in a charged battery, the iPhone turns on, but still does not charge. A new charging port & battery was tested, but still nothing.<br /><br />So, this leads to Tristar, the charging controller inside an iPhone, being the issue. <br /><br />This repair is an advanced microsoldering repair, but not the most difficult. If you're getting started with board level repairs, I highly recommend you start off with simple stuff like Tristars. And never practice on a customer's phone. Use non-functional phones to practice when first learning, so you can get the hang of it.<br /><br />Replacing Tristar usually takes about 5-10 min at the most. Add in some testing & assembly, and it's about a 30 min overall repair.<br /><br />Buy new Tristar ICs here.
