Testimony of André De Maere d’Aertrycke, Honorary Territorial Administrator. Experience in rural areas. 1952-1960.<br /><br />André de Maere d'Aertrycke has everything to build a successful career in the Belgian Congo. His uncle and aunt had plantations in Katanga, and his father had been a regional official there until the Second World War, in Costermansstad, present-day Bukavu. In 1952, after his law studies and additional training, young André goes to Congo with his wife.
