• The Bible did not fall from the sky, complete. The Bible did not emerge fully formed. It was compiled and canonised by the early Christian church, based on tradition. Ignoring that tradition leads to misunderstanding the Bible and interpretating it out of historical context. <br /><br />• The Bible is subject to human interpretation. Many sincere claimants have come to opposing views reading the same biblical passages. Some of them are even famous heretics. Church tradition helps guide interpretation and avoid erroneous personal conclusions.<br /><br />• The earliest Christians did not have the complete Bible, only individual books and letters. They relied on church tradition and the guidance of leaders for their doctrine and practices. To ignore tradition is to ignore what the first Christians actually believed and practiced. <br /><br />• The Bible itself instructs Christians to hold to tradition. Passages like 2 Thessalonians 2:15 tell believers to "stand firm and hold fast to the traditions you were taught, whether by word of mouth or letter from us".
