Tourists visiting Wuhan often put it on their list of must-see attractions. <br /><br />On April 9, the day after the removal of city-wide lockdown, dozens of business owners held a protest in the shopping district, demanding one year’s free rent.<br /><br />Protesters:<br />One year’s free rent, or we will stop the lease and quit. <br /><br />However, their landlord, a state-owned real estate company, refused to negotiate any form of rent reduction with them. <br /><br />A video released in early May showed that almost all shops and restaurants on the Pedestrian Street remain closed. <br />-<br />Opened in November 2013, the Wuhan Optics Valley Pedestrian Street, which spans nearly one mile, is said to be the longest pedestrian-only street in the world.
