This was our scariest, most challenging time ever while living van life when we nearly lost everything one night in Mexico. While we can’t take back what we did or said to each other during this crisis, we still want to share it with you. Hopefully, by watching this you can avoid the mistakes that got us into this mess.<br /><br />This video is an unflinching look into what happens when best-laid plans go wrong. Tensions flared, tears were shed, and the cohesion of our team was put to the test. But in the end, we found a way out with the help of some amazing people.<br /><br />It all started off well enough. While enjoying margaritas by the sea with new friends, the rising tide crashed our party. By the time we realized there was a problem, it was already too late. With our vans stuck in the sand and the water quickly rising all around us, we were prepared to watch everything wash away.<br /><br />Despite all that went wrong, after this experience, we’ve never felt more blessed and fortunate. Part of van life is about understanding that experiences are more valuable than possessions. In this case, experience almost took all our possessions from us.
