McCarthy LOST Votes After Trump Endorsement
Before Congress convened to once again vote on Speaker Wednesday morning, Donald Trump sent out a message endorsing Kevin McCarthy and urging ALL Republicans to vote for him. Instead, on the first ballot of the day (fourth overall), McCarthy actually LOST support from where he had stood just a day earlier. And considering that the holdouts are all Trump loyalists, the apparent negative impact of his endorsement says a lot about his waning influence. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Link - https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/mccarthy-loses-speakership-ballot-despite-trump-endorsement-1234655813/

Check out our merch by visiting our store: https://www.buyrof.com/

Subscribe to our podcast: http://www.ROFPodcast.com

Become a member today!: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYWIEbibRcZav6xMLo9qWWw/join

Support us by becoming a monthly patron on Patreon, and help keep progressive media alive!: https://www.patreon.com/TheRingofFire

Spread the word! We are now into day three of the chaos. But yesterday, let's go ahead and talk about what happened then early in the morning for the second time, Donald Trump actually came out, endorsed Kevin McCarthy's. Speaker told Republicans, everybody needs to get behind him. Stop being stupid. Trump said. So, Trump was trying to use his influence, his power that we all know he has over the Republican party to get them to fall in line and go ahead and vote for Kevin McCarthy. Now, this was a very interesting move by Trump because obviously the people objecting to Kevin McCarthy are all die hard Trump supporters, most of them all but two I believe are election deniers. So these are Trump's people putting up the fights. So Trump came in, tried to calm 'em down and said, listen, just go for McCarthy. So what happened after that? Well, it turns out Donald Trump's endorsement, as it frequently does, had the opposite effect. And Kevin McCarthy actually ended up losing supporters after Donald Trump came out and endorsed him. Granted, it was only one, but he still lost a person after Trump told all the Republicans to fall in line. Furthermore, Lauren Bobert came and spoke out against Donald Trump on the house floor, and Matt Gates said that Trump's endorsement was sad. It was sad.

The monster we always thought was Donald Trump, right? He was the Frankenstein's monster. He was the thing that the Republican party created that they could no longer control, that basically started just terrorizing the town's folk. But it turns out that Frankenstein's monster created a monster of its own that it no longer can control. So this is Frankenstein's monsters monster, because they're not listening to their dear leader. In fact, they are standing up to him and blatantly telling him, no, we're not gonna listen to you. And almost taunting him, like, what are you gonna do about it? Because the answer is that Trump has no power. There is literally nothing that Donald Trump can do to punish any of these individuals for not backing Kevin McCarthy. What's he gonna send out a, a post on truth? Social? Maybe. But does that really impact people who don't have to worry about another election for nearly two years? Probably not. But it does show that Donald Trump and his limited amount of power has become even more limited since the midterms. This guy is fading and he is fading fast. And of course, that doesn't do

Anything, anything to help the Republicans with their chaotic situation in the house. Uh, there's been plenty of reports. You know, Democrats may make a deal moderate Republicans reaching out to Democrats. Who knows what the hell's gonna happen. We may not even have a resolution to it this week, but as today goes on, we will find out more. We will be watching what happens. But, based on the last two days, unless the Democrats strike a deal with the Republicans, we're probably gonna watch Kevin McCarthy lose many more speaker votes as the day goes on.
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU0DarWjiwA
