This Piano Day, I dedicated five pieces of piano works to appreciate the beauty of piano music and to remind ourselves of the beauty of simplicity. This is 'Back to Basics 01.'<br /><br />In this piece, I want to express the sorrow of realizing that the world is not as beautiful as we want it to be. Originally, I wanted to name this piece 'weltschmerz,' a German word that captures the exact meaning that I'm trying to express in this piece, but I figured it wouldn't necessarily be understood by a worldwide audience.
