“Life Is Suffering” Explained | Nietzsche x Buddhism 101
🌕Check out the Nietzsche x Gautama Buddha article on my blog: https://artemalexandra.com/2021/06/21/nietzsche-with-buddha/

In this video, we are covering the truth to life. "Life is suffering" may sound quite negative at first, but the origin of this saying includes a number of varying definitions for the word "suffering". And this use of the word includes natural and unchangeable facts of life such as birth, death, illness, aging, as well as having desires and expectations.

In Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy, it is important to affirm life as it is. In reading his work and understanding the truths Nietzsche is affirming, it can be seen that his philosophies and his concept of the ubermensch follow very closely to the teachings of Gautama Buddha and the truths within Buddhism. These truths can also be seen in Nietzsche's greatest influence, Arthur Schopenhauer. And together, their thoughts on suffering have shaped the way we understand the philosophies of existentialism and life itself today, but shown here we can see that much of these thoughts were born from Buddhist teachings.

💬 Please share your thoughts in the comments!

The greatest extent of this video covers The Four Sights, The Four Nobel Truths, and the first Nobel Truth, Dukkha (Life is suffering/ This is suffering/ Suffering) from the traditional teaching of Siddhartha Guatama.

With this, I am also using clips from the History Channel series Alone. The Alone show carries a great deal of weight in projecting the human condition of "life is suffering" and to me, this can be seen most apparently in the contestant Larry. We deal with a great amount of suffering in our day-to-day lives, and on the show Alone, we can see people taken away from society's distractions and other people and we are drawn nearer to the core of the human condition: suffering. Please let me know if you would want an entire video devoted to Larry from Alone Season 2 (and Season 5)!

◾ Blog: https://artemalexandra.com
◾ FB page: https://www.facebook.com/dartemalexandra/
◾ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/artem.alexandra/
◾ Twitter: https://twitter.com/artem_alexandra
◾ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=16537180

🔅 Intro Music: https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Lee_Rosevere/Music_for_Vampires
- Intro: "Start the Day" by Lee Rosevere
🔅 Outro Music: https://www.andrewapplepie.com/
- Outro: "The 1900s" by Andrew Applepie

🔀 Edited with DaVinci Resolve:
FREE Download link - https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/

🎥 Gear used:
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k
Olympus 12-100mm f4 ED PRO M.
