Many of the 91/30 rifles assembled before 1930, were in fact ex dragoons or Model 91 variants. In 1930, the M91 and dragoon were replaced by the 91/30.

like the m91 and its counterparts, the 91/30 can be loaded via, the five round stripper clip.
the 91/30 can be found with a hex and round receiver and there are a few variants of both. I am going to go over some of the more common
when shopping for an 91/30, you will notice two arsenals.
then comes the stock variants. all are correct for late or referb nagants. if you want to collect or Restore yours to what it would have looked like, take note of the stocks. gouges and dings are often cut out and repaired. the pre ww2 stocks will have a screwed in sling garnish.

the wartime stocks saw the use of an insert and many did not even have them. this is what they look like in the front, and in the back.

post war stocks all have pressed in sling garnishes. on wood and on the laminated stocks.

early 91/30's had a blade type front sight that was eventually replaced by the hooded post. the bayonet from the 91/30 will fit the m91 and are easy to install. simply place the socket over the barrel and around the sight post. turn until the lock snaps. to remove, push the lock in and turn. pull it straight off.

the 91/30 was produced until 1944, some sniper rifles were produced after that, but that was the exception.
Many soviet countries manufactured their own versions of these rifles.

a little known fact is that the dates on the barrel are not always the date of the receiver. to check this, look under the rear tang and you will usually find the arsenal mark and a date code.

It is amazing to think of where some of these rifles might have been. These rifles are one of the last remaining diamonds in the rough and actually got me started on my collecting journey.

I have included below, some helpful links that will guide you into the mosin nagant rabbit hole.

http://www.7.62x54r.net
http://www.mosinnagant.net/
http://www.socamo.com/ Join our active Discord community https://discord.gg/4vBPHA7
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_HUxo5SJUU
