Anti-abortion activist Terrisa Bukovinac announced Thursday that she is running for president of the United States as a pro-life Democrat. She held the announcement event flanked by friends and allies outside the Washington-Surgi Clinic, where abortions are performed into the third trimester.<br /><br />Bukovinac made headlines last year when her and other activists in their group "Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising" obtained medical waste boxes from the facility and reportedly unboxed 115 aborted fetuses, which were recovered from their shared home.<br /><br />Lauren Handy, along with several other members of their coalition, were arrested shortly thereafter and charged with violating the FACE Act for a blockade they had committed inside the clinic the year prior.<br /><br />Bukovinac referenced the fetuses in her announcement Thursday, even having one supporter hold a sign with a photo of one of them.<br /><br />While no organized counter-protest took place, several hecklers passing by and gathering around the announcement shouted over Bukovinac.<br /><br />Bukovinac noted that the candidacy is not meant to be won, but that she would seek ballot access in several states and attempt to pave a path for anti-abortion Democrats to run winning campaigns in the future.<br /><br />Filmed by Ford Fischer<br /><br />NO REUSE WITHOUT PERMISSION Please contact Ford Fischer at [email protected] or call (573) 575-NEWS to license video.
