Riccardo ci chiede: Di cosa sono fatti i fuochi d'artificio?<br />Il principio di funzionamento è una semplice reazione di combustione tra alcuni composti chimici e l'ossigeno dell'aria. Il componente principale è la polvere da sparo, detta anche polvere pirica, che è composta da nitrato di potassio, carbone e zolfo. Gli effetti sonori sono dati dall’aggiunta di acido gallico o di acido pirico. I colori sono invece legati all'aggiunta di metalli sotto forma di sali. In particolare titanio, antimonio, magnesio, alluminio, manganese, zinco. Ognuno fornisce un colore diverso. Ad esempio il litio da il rosso, il sodio il giallo-arancio, il bario il verde, il rame blu-verde.
