MAGGIE MAY - Rod Stewart (Solo Ukulele)
This great song by Rod Stewart (lyrics) and Martin Quittenton (music) was recorded in 1971 as kind of a one-off project that was sitting around as an unreleased song. When Stewart was recording his third solo album, Every Picture Tells A Story, they needed one more song to round out the album and Maggie May was included, albeit reluctantly. This is because the record label executives thought the song was a dud. The thought was that since the song is propelled mostly by the story developed in the verses and it doesn't have what could be deemed a memorable chorus, it wouldn't be a hit. It was included as a B-side for the lead single from the album, "Reason To Believe." Radio DJs rather liked this song on the B-side and started playing Maggie May more and more often, planting the song in the hearts and minds of radio audiences everywhere. It became one of Stewart's most iconic songs.

Recorded this evening for Season 512 Of The Ukulele: B-Sides.
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uNJLdbTQAE
