The #FirstNations of #TurtleIsland / the Americas and the land have faced immense #humanrightsviolations that have lasted centuries, the oppression and inhumanity endured through the colonialists and brutal #Christianmissionaries that intended on killing and consuming the #indigenouspeoples, the #ancientculture and the land alike.<br /><br />Illegal #Europeancolonies, Christian missionaries and profit driven exploiters have all in the most unsustainable and inhumane ways, exploited and capitalized on the sacred land and its #ancientpeople. This has caused the destruction of incredibly abundant lands, the destruction and oppression of one of our world’s most ancient and wise people and not to mention the normalization and world-wide acceptance that this mentality of colonization, appropriation, consumerism, religious imposition, classing systems and detachment from nature has become the natural way of life.<br /><br />Nicole Richmond, a Canadian lawyer and wellness consultant, specializes in building healthy work environments and strong, transparent and supportive governments. She graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2006, where she was awarded the President's Award for Student Leadership. A consistently high academic performer and respected leader with a knack for efficiency, Nicole brings a new approach to the practice of law focusing on personal well-being, good governance and consciousness in action.<br /><br />She is an #Ojibway member of the #BiigitongNishnaabeg First Nation and lives in her traditional territory on the north shore of #LakeSuperior.
