SEPTA Trains Face Bobbing Main Line Signal 29 at North Broad
Expansion on the previous video showing the Reading Main Line track 1 AND track 2 MP 2.9 ABS signal bobbing between Approach Medium/Approach and Stop and Proceed. This time a parade of rush hour trains are having to navigate the strange occurrence.

Two signal effects playing off eachother here. First, the signals on the Reading Trunk exhibit quite a bit of relay lag when changing state. For example a signal going from Y/G Approach Medium to G/R Clear will momentarily display G/G. Here a bobbing track circuit between the 29-1 signal and the Medium Clear home signal at 16TH ST JCT is causing the automatic signal in advance change between Approach Medium and Stop and Proceed. However to accomplish this the signal first changes to Y/R Approach! Not to be outdone, the Track 2 signal starts bobbing as well between Approach and Stop and Proceed.

All the affected SEPTA train pretty much take things at Restricted speed, although following this there was a lengthy traffic jam as all northbound traffic through the interlocking was halted.

Situation occurred between 0830 and 0900.
...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1t1YRfF7L8
