Climate scientist claims bias in top journals
Climate scientist Patrick Brown just published an article in the prestigious journal Nature - and then caused a sensation by saying he had tailored that paper to be in line with the "narrative" that top journals expect on climate change - one of alarmism regardless of the facts. Some have jumped on the claims as vindication of what they've always said, others have called him any number of unflattering names. What's the truth? Is this a big deal that will echo through the coming decade, or a minor squall to pass imminently without leaving an impression? Let's have a look.

References

Climate warming increases extreme daily wildfire growth risk in California, Brown et al https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06444-3

Connections of climate change and variability to large and extreme forest fires in southeast Australia
https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-020-00065-8#article-comments

Forest fire detection system using wireless sensor networks and machine learning
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-03882-9

Projected increases in western US forest fire despite growing fuel constraints
https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-021-00299-0

Emissions – the ‘business as usual’ story is misleading
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00177-3

Climate simulations: recognize the ‘hot model’ problem
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-01192-2

Multi-decadal increase of forest burned area in Australia is linked to climate change
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-27225-4

Projected increases in western US forest fire despite growing fuel constraints
https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-021-00299-0

Spatial and temporal expansion of global wildland fire activity in response to climate change
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-28835-2

Support this channel! https://patreon.com/mallenbaker

The ‘Dangerously Reasonable’ channel by Mallen Baker covers news, current affairs, science and politics.
