MAGA Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has said that she is going to force a vote this week on holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in "inherent contempt," which would then authorize the House Sargent At Arms to go and arrest the attorney general of the United States. She's doing this because the DOJ already announced that they wouldn't be taking action after the House voted to hold Garland in contempt because he wouldn't turn over materials that were covered by executive privilege. Now, you'll remember two weeks ago, the house did vote, um, along party lines to hold Merrick Garland in contempt because he did not turn over the audio of President Biden's conversation with special investigator, uh, Robert Hur. Um, because it was executive privilege to not release that audio from an investigation that didn't even result in criminal charges against President Biden, like this matter is done. Her, of course, was investigating President Biden's documents. Case determined there was no, you know, malfeasance there, Biden cooperated, gave the documents back, no reason for criminal charges, right? Well, Republicans are not satisfied. So they wanted the audio Garland said, well, I can't because they're claiming executive privilege over it, so legally I can't do it. <br /><br />So they voted to hold him in contempt, and after the vote to hold him in contempt, the DOJ was like, nice try, but we're not gonna prosecute our top guy. So that is when Anna Paulina Luna came in and said, well, I'm gonna force a vote on inherent contempt. So what does that mean? Well, inherent contempt, if they were to vote on this and, and it passes, means that the House of Representatives would have the authority to send the sergeant at arms of the House of Representatives to go and apprehend Merrick Garland and throw him in the little jail cell that they have there in Congress where he would be held until he released that audio to them. In other words, they're gonna send the House cop to go arrest the Attorney General of the United States if this MAGA loving Florida representative has her way. <br /><br />Now, there's a big problem with this, other than of course, it's idiotic. The problem is that you would have to have un uh, unanimous support from the Republican Party, which she already doesn't have, because House Speaker Mike Johnson has said they don't wanna do that. They would actually rather take this issue to the courts for some reason, instead of just letting it go, like Biden didn't get charged because he didn't withhold information from the government like Donald Trump did. That's why Trump got pro is getting prosecuted for his documents. And Biden is not like, this is not a grand conspiracy here. Mike Pence didn't get charged either, guys, I don't see you subpoenaing that audio, but nevertheless, here they are, they're pushing the issue, and Mike Johnson says, we don't wanna arrest Merrick Garland.
