In our rapidly ageing society, the elderly form 6% (2 million) of our current population and are expected to reach 15% of population in next 15 years. Worldwide, falls rank as one of the leading causes of unintentional death and injury where 1 in 3 elderly people will suffer from falls.<br /><br />Even if they don’t lose consciousness, that seemingly minor impact to the head can jolt the brain within the skull and cause internal bleeding, bruising or swelling of the brain. The extent of injury is worsened when blood thinners are involved.
