Similarly as with that title, Little Misfortune focuses on a young girl confronted with trauma and death. The titular character, Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, lives a fairly carefree life thanks to her attitude when confronted with serious family and life issues. And in a theme that seems to have carried over to this game, the very real danger that drugs can pose is addressed as well.<br /><br />The game generally is a point-and-click side-scroller, with options for keyboard, console controller, or keyboard and mouse. Interaction with things in the world has different effects, depending on the context and icon displayed — an eye will examine, a heart will pet, a door will engage / enter, etc. When arrow icons are shown, the arrow will interact with the thing closest to the arrow. One special action is spreading happiness, in the form of glitter.<br /><br />KEYBOARD: Movement is done via either arrow keys or the standard W, A, S, and D. Glitter is distributed with F; interactions with objects in the world is done with Enter. Decisions are made by holding A or D; if a close-up / examination screen is shown, X closes that.<br />GAMEPAD: LS moves Misfortune. Glitter is distributed with Y; interactions with objects in the world is done with A. Decisions are made by holding X or B; if a close-up / examination screen is shown, B closes that.<br />KEYBOARD AND MOUSE: Basic movement is handled using either arrow keys; the standard W, A, S, and D; or by clicking elsewhere on the screen. Glitter is distributed by clicking on Misfortune *herself*; interactions with objects in the world is by clicking them.
