Shez with Berling's Mercenaries led by Berling, were drawn into a bloodlust battle with Jeralt's Mercenaries, led by Jeralt and the Ashen Demon: Byleth. Byleth would kill Berling in the battle and the Mercenaries wiped out Shez's comrades: Getz and Lazley.
